Seville lights the holiday season with the largest Christmas display in the city's history. More than nine million lights decorate the city's 304 streets and plazas through January 6th, the Feast of the Epiphany.
Seville is known for going big for the holidays. In 2021, the city created Europe’s tallest LED Christmas tree at 40 meters (131 feet). This year, Seville is promising the largest Christmas lights display in its history with over 304 streets and plazas lit with more than nine million LED lights.
The theme this year is ‘El camino que lleva a Sevilla’, ‘The road that leads to Seville.’ And as you can see in the video it’s a journey you can literally walk through:
- 32 giant trees, each 25 feet tall, line the grand Avenida de la Constitución. Every step feels like walking through a sparkling forest.
- Plaza Nuevo has a massive LED tree, perfectly synchronized with music.
- The centuries-old architecture of City Hall is lit by a 14 minute projection mapping show which runs every half-hour.
These lights will shine bright not just through Christmas Day, but all the way through January 6th: the Feast of the Epiphany.
The real grand finale of the holiday season in Seville is the Three Kings Parade on January 5 — one of Spain’s oldest and largest. Floats, performers, and tens of thousands of spectators come together to create one of Spain’s oldest and largest holiday celebrations.
If you ever get the chance to visit Seville during the holidays… do it! It’s magical, it’s grand, and it's unforgettable. And thanks for coming along on this journey with me. Please leave a thumbs-up on the Youtube video if you enjoy it!
